Vigo To Redondela

Great breakfast Great Hotel Ciudad de Vigo.  Left at 9: 00. At 1 mile we stopped at a grocery store for toothpaste and WC. The street out of town is not very exciting but it is lined with orange trees loaded with huge fruit. I wish I was a little taller. At 11:00 we were finally out of town at about 3 miles but then it was a steep uphill steep and long steeper killer one with a good view . I think the trail came up here just for the view now. We’re heading downhill again.  Oh no.  Straight up again. Lots of Pilgrims at the top trying to get their breath. View of floating Muscle farms in the river below.  On a dirt path. Now heading through some trees. Nice and level. Hopefully it lasts a while.  Some entrepreneur at their house set up a few tables, some umbrellas and selling drinks and chips and souvenirs. Everyone lined up for the one bathroom. Everybody on the Camino is stopping here. But it’s nice and clean and pleasant. I had a nice cold iced tea.
Back on the trail.
We came to a waterfall that had a little stairs you could climb so I did it part way, not too far up like Amy. Ken took pictures of Tina and me. Joana was helping us down. I slipped on a wet spot and fell on my left hip and a little on my bad elbow? Will check for damages later. I only had an audience of about 10. Bent one pole. One less thing to bring home. A kind soul was offering me drugs. I figured this was probably a bad time to start. The trail is paved but it’s through a forest so it’s all shaded and peaceful so I’m happy.  After rotating several times with walking partners, I ended up with Joana and a father/daughter pair from Montreal. I really enjoyed the camaraderie. Daughter just finished law school and would be studying for the bar soon. Her dad was making her a video of life experiences or life advice from fellow pilgrims. Joana and I are now part of her lifetime advice movie.
The walk always goes faster when you’re talking to new people. As we got closer to our final destination, Evany called with a problem about the rooms. I spent the next 10 minutes on the phone trying to solve it. I ended up having to walk the rest of the way to the hotel on my own as no one wanted to hear the situation. A very steep downhill I had to do zigzagging across the road to get down. When I arrived at the hotel Alvear Suites, it ended up the rooms were fine, just a mix-up with who was to go in which room. Each suite had a washing machine so I was able to do laundry and hang it all over the place to dry.   Dinner with Amy and Ken at a bar that is called Street Food or something like that. Nice guys running it. Good young wine, some beef tacos and chicken fingers and back to the room. Preparing for tomorrow’s walk.
